Abstract:

This research was carried out to study hydrothermal synthesis of merlinoite and gismondine zeolites from perlite, as the raw material for the production of essential silica and aluminum, under alkaline condition, at a constant temperature of 150˚C during 3 days. All experiments were performed on the same sample of perlite powder without any purification and all reactions were carried out into the teflon hydrothermal autoclaves. The phase compositions of resultant products were analyized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and their morphology were examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM). According to experimental data, at a concentration of 0.25 mol/liter LiOH, only synthetic merlinoite crystallized, at the first phase. By increasing LiOH concentration to 0.5 mol/liter, gismondine was formed along with merlinoite, and then with more increasing LiOH concentration to 3 mol/liter, the production rate of gismondine has been overcome to the production rate of merlinoite.

Synthesis of Zeolites, Merlinoite Minerals of Damavand’s Natural Clinoptiloite Zeolites Mineral in Hydrothermal Conditions, under the Influence of Alkaline

In the present research synthesis of zeolites, merlinoite minerals of natural clinoptiloite mineral in the presence of alkaline mediums, was investigated. The analyzed variants are a result of a concentration of Na+ and K+ ions, temperature and time. Phase transition of clinoptiloite was conducted in the presence of an 8 molar potash solution (KOH) and a 4 molar soda solution (NaOH). Results in...

Lithium Disilicate (Li2Si2O5): Mild Condition Hydrothermal Synthesis, Characterization and Optical Properties

Lithium disilicate nano-powders were synthesized via a mild condition hydrothermal reaction at 180 ºC for 48 and 72 h with a non stoichiometric1:2 Li:Si molar ratio in NaOH aqueous solution using Li2CO3 and SiO2.H2O as raw materials. The synthesized materials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) technique and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The XRD data showed t...

Experimental investigation of single carbon compounds under hydrothermal conditions

The speciation of carbon in subseafloor hydrothermal systems has direct implications for the maintenance of life in present-day vent ecosystems and possibly the origin of life on early Earth. Carbon monoxide is of particular interest because it represents a key reactant during the abiotic synthesis of reduced carbon compounds via Fischer–Tropsch-type processes. Laboratory experiments were condu...
